Mian Muhammad Mansha is 62 years old self made Pakistan's first billionaire. He was born during the Partition of 1947. His parents were among those Muslim families making the migration from India to Pakistan.
His father and uncles started textiles business with name Nishat Mills in 1951. Mian went to UK for studies and joined family business after completion of his graduation. His father died one year after his return from UK.
His business group “Nishat Group” is now Pakistan's largest exporter of cotton clothes (famous brands is Gap). He is Pakistan’s largest private employer. Currently he has also invested in power projects, cement and insurance.
He won a controversial bid for Muslim Commercial Bank during the privatization in 1991. He had sold more than half of his MCB Bank Ltd shares for $900 million during May 2008.
